Musical Zen Monks Perform Fury 3 For Zen Masters At Great Vow Zen Monastery
Thanks to Joe Galewsky For the Video
The Great Vow Zen Monastery Marimba Band Performs SDG for the Soto Zen Buddhist Association made up of Zen Masters and Priests from all around the country. A great example of the power of music as practice and how a monastery can move as one body. Thanks to Walt Hampton for his arrangement and for our director Jan Chozen Bays Roshi.

HI I Scott! We have so much fun playing Walt's music. It's a great mindfulness practice -- you have to be aware not only of what you are playing, but of what everyone else is playing. Will you be at the workshop in Portland this summer?

I see Dayna and DT and Sean. My middle school kids found this video and told me about it. It's Scott from the Hot Marimba class last summer. My kids are playing this too. Walt is coming to teach in my town this summer for a week. Hope to get more peoople teaching marimba here on the East Coast.

If that's Zen you can sign me up. The conductor wails just like this bass player I knew from a band called lacka-something-or-other.
