@Dogsnark Its a set of sensors mounted on a boom. They measure things like air flow speed and direction. It's only used for testing purposes, and not part of the final aircraft.

its 4.5 million $

I've seen several vids now of the HondaJet. The nose seems to have an usually long drop on landing. This is going to be something that is discussed at length on pilot blogs once people start getting stick time. Its a little disconcerning to have such an attitude change during a minimum controllable airspeed maneuver. Looking forward to learning more about this VLJ.

@coolmoodee The first flight is just to prove it can fly. It's a safety thing. Better to leave it down that pull it up only to find it won't go back down again
-
seen this jet in its infantcy.... pretty aircraft, curious why the landing gear was still down when flying though

lady at 2:02 has a look of light despair

It seems to me that most non-military jets lack the long "horn" on the nose that this plane has - pardon my ignorance, but what is this for?
-
That's a bad little Mama Jama!!

@lycoming333 I think it gives 3 fulcrums on the wing span 1 positive and 2 negative, giving the wing cantilever characteristics something the structural engineers wanted to work with. I could guess further but that much I am reasonably certain of. Also the turbine pylons are themselves a curved foil, directing air flow back together at the tail of the fuselage (has to do with pressure/suction). Another advantage; one more characteristic to reduce vortex.

@leovalencia10 Most first flights have landing gear down.
-
@lycoming333 told you to take a nap!!!
-
@joshun28 Take a joke captain obvious.
-
@lycoming333 You are an idiot. Honda has taken it to the skies. Nothing about a flying machine is " Just had be be different". Please go back to sleep.
-
Just had to be different and mount the powerplants of the wings...Garbage!

2:18 vtec kicks in
-
it is V-tec?
-
this has been in development for a long time now... what is taking so long? How much money has been invested in this? can they ever recoup the investment?
-
those Asians dudes can make anything
-
Do larger tires help on the run-way??
-
@StarJar58 The major reason would be for noise. With engines mounted to the fuselage, the noise and vibration is much louder. This would make it more comfortable in the cabin.
-
damn that was a hard hitting landing
-
The interesting thing about the flight is that the landing gear was down the whole time.
-
Wish i had my wings.
Pretty quiet for a two-stroke
