More Etta on the above. Studio single version of the same song!

@jabm0495 On another site, someone called her the "Grand Dutchess of the Blues". Maybe that should be amended to the "Grand Dutchess of Song". I think only Billie Holiday equals her when it comes to the pain in their music.

@Woodland320 Personnel: Etta James (vocals); Brian Ray (guitar); Bobby Martin (saxophone, keyboards, French horn, background vocals); Keith Johnson (trumpet, keyboards); Kurtis Teel (bass); Armand Grimaldi (drums).

Fantastic. I've just put on YT her single recording of this. Blow's ya mind! Hope you can find it!

I came so close to seeing her in 1992 in Halifax Nova Scotia. Full house waiting for her- but the promoter tried to pay her with a check, so she put her band on her bus and left without playing. Having read her biography, I don't blame her a bit. My loss. This is a great CD.

@Woodland320 I think that Brian Ray is here. He has played bass and guitar for Paul McCartney for years.

Etta James does not need a title...Gospel,Blues,R&B,Jazz,
Pop and all other genres..This woman sung it all.So much passion, so much pain...It poured through in her songs...I will always love and remember you, Etta James...May God remember and continue to bless you. -
this is where all the good music came from.....singers like her.......
Etta James is the greatest female vocalist I have ever had the honor of hearing live. When I saw her do this at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco in the mid '80's tough men wiped tears from their eyes. Prayers for Etta.

For me, Etta James was a singer, like Joe Cocker, who could take any song and make it into something unique and special.
