one of the last recordings the late darrell (eu)banks would record before his untimely death in 1970 at the hands of an off-duty detroit police officer. "forgive me" was taken from banks' last album 1969's "here to stay" produced by don davis (hit producer for johnnie taylor) and released on the stax records sister label volt. recently soulfuldetroit.com set up a fund to purchase a grave marking for banks whose detroit cemetary plot went unmarked since his passing. fans and supporters gave graciously and enough money was raised for the marker. had banks lived only heaven knows how high his career would've soared, but since fate intervened that cold motor city winter day,one could only imagine.

  • Did you make this video? If you did it's a great job my friend....

  • @MrMaxxmo Sorry for the late response and yes I put this video together.

Thanks for the compliment,it's greatly appreciated-Many thanks to you!!

  • Never heard this one b4 , sounds like a brother ,brother man ... like I like it , raw and a lot of soul .

Whether he reached the "STATUS " of Otis I think is irrelevant , the man obviously left behind some great music .

  • No disrespect to the man's music. I'm a serious D.B. fan. When I said "status" I meant as far as the number of recordings. There's several artists with small catalogs who made top quality music,D.B. (obviously),Lee Charles,Vernon Garrett,Jesse Anderson,Harold Burrage, and so on. I strongly agree that Darrell Banks left some incredible music for us to enjoy.

  • YEA!!! THIS IS THE REAL THING!!!

  • ....AND YOU KNOW IT!!
