My view of the imposed ratification of the Lisbon Treaty by the Irish.

I strongly believe that the second vote in as many years on the same matter is not acceptable. I do not argue what the Lisbon Treaty stands for, I'm just making a statement that the means used were undemocratic.

Please comment on what your views are on the issue.
Was voting on the Lisbon Treaty by the Irish, twice, a democratic move?

  • "Oceania"?? You think we're in some kind of Orwellian world? FEMA camps??? I'm assuming you subscribe to the NWO conspiracy. Am I right?

  • padraigmairtin - I think you need a massive dose of reality to rid off the illusion you have been programmed with. I know how you see it because I once too relied on the corporate media. I studied in the soviet union for 4 years and I think I know what I'm saying. The EU is only in its embroyonic stage, but with Lisbon it will grow fast. No gulags yet, but on the other side of Oceania they have FEMA camps. Wake up, mate - things are not what they appear to be.

  • The Constitution got a massive yes vote in Spain and Luxembourg.... How on earth does the EU resemble the Soviet Union. Is the EU Communist? Are there EU gulags? I suggest you read the ruling of the German Constitutional Court which concluded that the EU is not a superstate but rather an association of sovereign states.

  • The EU did not decide to hold a second referendum in Ireland. The Irish parliament did. We have had two referendums in the past on the similar issues. We voted Twice on lifting the ban on divorce. The first time it was no, the second time yes. We do have a right as a people to change our mind. We could have voted no again but we didn't.

  • The No side gained many victories - the French and Dutch said No to the EU Constitution - so they changed the name and structure of treaty - but then the Irish said No, so they decided to have a re-run because the Irish could be bullied into saying Yes. Welcome to the new Soviet Union - a sheep in wolves' clothing. After Lisbon comes into force the EU can show its fangs - there will be only one direction: centralised power leading to ONE finality: a TOTALITARIAN EU State posing as a federation.

  • Not really. It's simple the EU way of doing things the democratic way. Are you danes not going to vote on the Euro for the fourth time soon? Once you've voted the EU way you will not have to vote agin. But if you vote no you will have to vote until you vote yes.

  • all cool (especially the nice irish music :) but you've made a печатна грешка (error): it's "faScist"

  • you can't put up a union and it's treaties like a football match.. the people voted yes this time.. maybe the irish government did something so that the people got to know more about it the second time..

  • It was superimposed I think... there were so many people against it at the beginning, it's too weird.

  • FUCK eu, FUCK nato
