We had a great afternoon up in Door County Wisconsin trolling for these toads. I strongly suggest doing this if you ever have the chance to! Both fish pictured are being mounted, and the one I am holding has a Michigan lip tag, so a video with that info is coming once we get a hold of the info.

Walleye #1-- 30" 10lb
Walleye #2-- 29.5" 10lb 4oz

  • @RockDoctor07 nice. the 30 incher was on a willow blade with white beads. mine was on a blue colorado blade

  • @RockDoctor07 well, you keep the fish, you can take the tag off, or have the tag in the mount. Since all lip tags you find on walleyes in lake michigan are put on by the state of michigan, you go to the michigan dnr website and find where you can report a tag. they will ask you for the number, and then they will send you the info of the fish. age, when it was tagged, where it was tagged, caught how many times, etc.

if you release the fish, the tag MUST STAY ON!! you can still take the number

  • Around here the best color for walleye seems to be Yellow. Yellow Jigs and Red/Yellow 5 of Diamonds are what I have the best luck on.

  • Nice fish, Big females like that always seem to have a shine to them. I'd like to get one mounted sometime, but I'm holding out for one 15lbs or more. I've seen one that was just over 17lbs but that was in a net.

What do you do with the "Lip Tag"?

  • @TheEliteFisherMan Thanks a lot!! there are A LOT of fish up there. we caught 15 fish, and kept only these two. plus, we wanted the lip tag, and you arent allowed to remove it if you let the fish go.

  • Nice fish! You should check into getting graphite replica's made. The fish looks better in the water then on the wall.
