I timed it at 5.7sec, and I think it could shave a few 10's of a second (MB states 5.4sec to 100km/h).
As you can see the traction control worked a bit (the asphalt was quite poor).
Car has a 5.5L V8 with 382BHP. 4020lbs.
A really great car. Amazing torque. Only annoying things as with all Mercedes-Benz cars, the traction control, even when "Turned-off" is not OFF and still interferes.

Enjoy!

  • @Polo16V190 its teh same engine as in europe but for the americans tehy name it differnt so they feel better.its still a 5.5 liter engine

  • For faster acceleration do not just floor it. I do own an E 550 T which a drag race from time to time. I get best results at an unprep. track by gently flooring it. As soon as ASR kick's in, you are loosing time!

  • @J0B0S0 LOL...even the E 420 CDI is way slower than the E 550...

  • I will have the diesel ... bit slower in straight pull ... faster in kick down overtaking.

  • @EliteTbagger ,

    nooooo, your wrong!

The old 500 had 306hp (that's the 500 that was produced till 2006.),

and in 2006-2007 the new 500 (or as they call it in the USA, 550) engine came out,

and it has 388hp (in USA it has 381-382)... this engine was pu in cars to 2011.,

now they have the 500 Blue Efficiency engine, it has about 430hp...

So this is the current engine they put into a Mercedes today

    So please, don't spread desinformation!

  • @ScuderiaBull wrong the 500 has 308 or something

  • @ScuderiaBull Ah ok! I didn't know that thanks :)

  • @Polo16V190 ,

ofcourse we Europeans have this motor, we just call it the 500 (not 550),

its the same 388hp motor... just 2 different names

  • @YourWorstNightmareDK THANK YOU! I drive a CLS550 often and I *HATE* that clock. It's harder to read than just putting a clock in the center display. I guess they needed to put something there and didn't have a better idea.

I do like how the clock sets it time through the radio unit though, that is pretty neat to watch....

  • @YourWorstNightmareDK Knowing that Mercedes is obsessed with driver safety and convenience, I'm guessing that the plain looking clock is placed in the dash so that the driver doesn't have to search for a discretely placed clock that may expose the driver to dangers while he/she is looking away from the driving field of vision.
