I "accidentally" attended a symposium discussing transgender men and women in the workplace. If I knew the forum was about the transgender community, I would have declined the invitation emphatically without hesitation. My mind has been closed in classifying the characteristics of the transgender demographic until that evening.
I listened to the platform of four men and women who transitioned from one gender to the other while holding executive positions in corporate America. Until that day, I would have never acknowledged the possibility of the trans people working in corporate America. I am not against the idea, but my prejudice reside in the awareness of racism, sexism and such in the workplace and knowing that trans people can be treated quite cruelty. As in the stories that were shared at that forum, all it takes is a few supportive people to be able to pass their acceptance and comfortability among others.
Check out the entire video to hear my testimony. I hope you will be brave to share an eye-opening experience about a subject you were once prejudice towards.
thanks well done
