The Great Eastern Iowa Duck Race 2009

Cedar Rapids Daybreak Rotary is renewing a community-wide, family-friendly, affordable, fun and unique event designed to benefit Eastern Iowa organizations that focus on helping children and families. The first annual Great Eastern Iowa Duck Race, patterned after a successful duck race held in Cedar Rapids during the 1990s, will benefit Four Oaks, the Boys and Girls Club, and Polk Elementary School.




All three organizations focus on educating children and teaching the values of citizenship, character, healthy lifestyle, work ethic, having fun and service to others. Four Oaks and the Boys and Girls Club, which provide services across Eastern Iowa, suffered severe damage from last summers epic floods. Daybreak Rotarys mission is to leverage the Cedar River to make a lasting, positive impact on a rotating group of organizations each year that focus on helping children and families.


Saturday, June 6 at 1 p.m. on the Cedar River in Downtown Cedar Rapids between the 2nd Avenue bridge and the 3rd Avenue bridge following the completion at Noon of the first 2009 Downtown Farmers Market with an estimated 10,000-plus attendees.
