On 12th &13th May 2011 ZEALANDIA welcomed 35 female bellbirds and 25 kākāriki respectively. They have come from Kapiti Island to help with the establishment of founder populations at ZEALANDIA (Karori Sanctuary).
12 of the kākāriki were "hard released" by staff and volunteers and the remaining will be held in off-track aviary flights for a few days before joining their new friends - can you spot the male bellbird outside the aviary?
