Performed LIVE July 11, 2010 at Hayes Barton Baptist Church, Raleigh, NC . Cheniqua Gardiner, Soprano . 11 am Worship Services are aired live on FOX50. www.hbbc.net
Love this classic gospel piece -- listened to at least a dozen renditions on youtube, but this soloist is by far my favorite. Unusual, in my experience, to see a volunteer church choir singing from memory. I like their spirit! But I want to fix the diction and blend -- and get those Baptists clapping their hands to the "never failed me" yet as noted in the music, and repeating with far more improvisation. Still, it blessed me to hear this!
The pianist really took some amazing liberties with this piece of music. She really made it more joyful to listen to than all the other performances...
I will sing of God's mercy every day, every hour He gives me power I will sing and give praise to thee for all the dangers, toils and snares, that He has brought me out He is my God and I'll serve him No matter what the test Trust and never doubt Jesus will surely bring you out He never failed me yet I know God is able to deliver in time of storm I know that he'll keep you safe and warm When the weariest soul can rest I can recall to people ever blessed

well done. so thankful to serve a God whose promises wont fail :o)
I find it mildly humorous that the one black person in the choir (church?) is named cheniqua.
