Arioso from Tamerlano
In this wonderful Arioso, Bajazet, which is going to death, tries to comfort his beloved and hopeless daughter.
The cradling rithm of the music, suggests that he is rocking his daughter in the same manner he was used to do when she was a baby.
It is an extraordinary musical piece, extremely dramatic.
Figlia mia, non pianger no!
Lascia allora uscire il pianto
quando morto io nol vedrò.
Daughter of mine, do not cry, no!
Let out your cry
when I am dead, and cannot see it.
