@csipy5 He was awful. No question. But there were only about 1.5 million excess deaths in the Gulags. The famines are a sempiternal part of Russia. No matter what is said about the Ukraine's having been the breadbasket, it too suffered famines long before communism. In fact, before the Cossacks went on a rampage against Poles and Jews, there was a major famine.
