A Walk in the Wild: Continuing John Muir's Journey
August 6, 2011 - January 22, 2012
Docent tours of the exhibition are offered every Saturday at 3 p.m.

Explore the legacy of John Muir's life and how he continues to influence our relationship with the natural world in the first-ever museum exhibition of its kind.

Told through OMCA's collections of art, history, and natural science, interactive digital technology, and select loans-journals, manuscripts, and original drawings---the exhibition is a tribute to Muir's impact on California and to the importance of continued environmental stewardship today. Through interactive, multisensory displays and digital mash-ups, A Walk in the Wild: Continuing John Muir's Journey simulates many of Muir's explorations including his trek from Yosemite to Mount Whitney, and even his night spent in a hollow giant sequoia as the forest burned around him. From history and nature buffs to avid eco-explorers and casual weekend outdoor enthusiasts, this exhibition will encourage everyone to go out and take a walk in the wild!

A Walk in the Wild: Continuing John Muir's Journey is made possible by generous support from the Oakland Museum Women's Board, The Bernard Osher Foundation, Alice and Richard Kulka, the OMCA Natural Sciences Guild, the J.M. Long Foundation, Guy and Jeanine Saperstein, and the University of the Pacific Library, Holt-Atherton Special Collections, John Muir Papers.
