I use the DS-1 to boost the input to my Little Big Muff. It sounds really good.

best way to use it i think is with level and tone maxed or tone pulled back to about 3 o clock and have distortion between lowest(blues) to almost halfway(blues rock/rock). my set up is a gibson les paul and a fender solid state amp

Give it the ol Keeley Mod and add a nice MXR analog chorus and your set.

Looks like you've discovered the secret to the DS-1, turn the distortion *down* on this cheap pedal and it sounds halfway decent. :-)
