29-01-2012 Humpies and Orca

Tour at 13.00 Once again we sailed out from Hafnafjörður. Luckily the rain stopped the moment we started the tour and waited to start again until we were back in the Harbour. Even the sun came out whilst we were sailing in the calm seas of Faxaflói Bay and it was not only the weather, that made this day increadible!! Today we encountered three Humpback Whales and a family of Orca!!! The first Humpback we found was just five minutes away from the harbour because he seemed to be resting, we decided to leave him in peace and head towards two other Humpback Whales that were swimming side by side. It was just lovely to see those two together, they must have met here in Faxaflói Bay, because one of them we spotted several times since the last few weeks and until today she/he was travelling alone. There was a lot of boat traffic around those two animals so we decided to go further out and we soon found a pod of Orca (5-8 Orca) from newly born to grandparents. They came really close to us on many occasion which was really nice. On the way back we had a short stop at the two humpbacks again. Just a perfect Day for all of us!!!
