  • Funny how the sun shining on his box of nuts gives them a golden tinge. Same Kola as in Coca-Cola? If they are roasted does the bitterness go away?

  • Says Wiki "The kola nut has a bitter flavor and contains caffeine. It is chewed in many West African cultures, individually or in a group setting. It is often used ceremonially, presented to tribal chiefs or presented to guests. It is preferred among African Muslims, who are forbidden to drink alcohol. Chewing kola nut can ease hunger pangs. Frequent chewing of the kola nut can also lead to stained teeth."

I'd never heard of it before going to W. Africa!

  • Interesting, so I gather your experience is similar to the wiki usage. I bet $100 goes a long way around there. Don't forget your toothbrush!

  • was never a huge fan of it but apparently it has medicinal properties too! Not so big on red teeth though...

uploading videos is much more than fun writing grants! got 3 due next week :( :(

  • Africans Here in guinea west Africa chew it because of the caffeine rush somewhat like coffee. its quite bitter and can make your teeth change color . its also given to village chiefs when meeting for them for the first time as a token .

  • Now now, no sad faces. Writing grant apps is what lets you follow your dreams. Tedious, yes, sad no. I agree, it's probably not nearly as fun as a Sunday afternoon on YT.
