@redscarf11 I don't know about where this guy is, but certain parts of california it is illegal to use a cast net to catch bait fish. Here in southern california this is the most common way we catch our own bait

i catch them the same way but alot time i do it with out a rod i just tie it to a roll of line and when i catch one i rig it up right under the fin

get a billy boy bobber ,bobber stopper, 4 large split shotsand baitholder hoo first put on a float put a bobber stopper under it about an inch under that split shots 3 feet down the hook with live shiners,bluegill,herring, anything
