  • where's the bass?

  • This is when they were singing as a trio

  • Dean, This is awesome. Thanks for sharing this. Without the videos that you and others are sharing the younger generation would not be able to see how great these classic groups were.

  • Just trying to be a blessing! LOL!

  • Is Chris one of Jake's many brothers?

  • Chris is Jake's son.

  • This was about 1978. I was at a taping of the Jubilee in Nashville when this particular group of Statesmen was on the show (not sure if it was this taping.) I remember them doing "I want to Know." The Hinsons and the Hopper Brothers and Connie were also on that show.

  • There is another song with a similar title, Wait til You See My New Home. I have the music to it but haven't heard the Statesmen sing it in nearly 40 years.

  • This is FANTASTIC! Did you ever hear Hovie preach? He preached just like he sang, with everything he had.

  • this was one of my mom's favorite. wish I had known it was on here a year ago. I use to play it by Jesse Dixon for her @ the nursing home and she enjoyed it. I know she would have loved this version too as Jake and Hovie were some of her favorites too. Thanks for sharing this.

  • I've heard people talk about it, and after hearing it, i can see why. nice!

  • Your Grandfather was such a great singer, and I just love his voice and personality. When I was younger I tried to sing like your grandfather listening to old Statesman and Imperial lp's of my dad's. I matured with a deep baraton/bass voice instead of soundling like Jake Hess I sound like Tennessee Ernie Ford.

Rosie and Hovie Lister added to the group made it even better. Hovie was a sport model, his niece llived near my hometown of Americus.
