Today, few pitchers have maybe 3 complete games. In some seasons Nolan Ryan had 10+ complete games. That's thousands of pitches, hundreds of innings. He was a hell of a pitcher. His fastball was one of the fastest ever recorded at 100.9 mph. He also had one of the best curveballs late in his legendary career. He was also the first player in MLB history to be payed 1 million dollars. That's how good he was. If he could play right now at his age, he would still kick every player's ass.

Kailasland, don't forget Sandy Koufax!

Judyneric, as if anyone here gave a care about any of the bs coming out of your mouth. Have you no shame? Get lost!
-
someone get judyneric the hell out of here (delete him here block whatever) obviously they have some kind of problem with nolan ryan. ask any professional baseball player if they think nolan ryan is one of the best pitchers ever and every single one of them will say YES. get the hell out of here judyneric you dont know shit and probably never picked up a baseball in your life. I am a former ball player for MANY years myself and was an accomplished pitcher, I know my shit, Ryan is a pitching god

@judyneric please, obviously that record has nothing to do with his great pitching and everything to do with playing on poor teams for so many years. When you dont get run support and when you have crap defense, the best pitcher in the world such as Ryan has a hard time winning.

@austinlinder21 -- That's right Yankee fans. You keep showing the rest of the sports world just how ignorant you are.

@tatertots00 Oh and just in case you didn't know this, Mariano Rivera has one pitch. ONE. A cut fastball. And we all know just how well he throws that pitch. But you tote him out there 2-3 times through the opposing team's order and you watch him get lit up. No starter can be successful with only one pitch in his arsenal.

@dompace1 killing them with 100+MH ninja stars would be cool

To say hes overrated is comical. This guy was the most feared right hander in the game for 20 years. He played for mostly dismal teams and got little run support. His record is a direct reflection of this, not his lack of talent. And on his journey he threw SEVEN no-hitters and another dozen one or two hitters. He was far from mediocore. In fact his record was great considering the teams he played for. Had he been on even an average squad all those years he would have easily won 400+ games.
