I’d argue it as a waste, because the worlds changing, we no longer need the same end product. Students are taught …this way is right; it’s a dictatorship, in every sense of the word. Education works an autocratic way, taking no account of the student’s opinions. With rapid knowledge at are fingertips, we need creative thinkers, not encyclopaedias. You say this is right; it’s final & absolute… to put it bluntly, you have just told that person to stop thinking. It’s the death of new ideas.

No ones claiming, education doesn't work or that education isn't a public good, we all have benefited from education. He isn't calling for individual education; more so, that education is a tool, created to meet the needs of our society. As our needs change, we must remodel are tools, so that they fulfill are needs and reduce wasted talent.

(I get the joke about irony, but if you think of it in any way like a point...I hope not)

Did you just follow up the ad hominem "uses 'PhD' after his name every chance he gets", to, from what I can tell, an outright assumption that this guy is gonna lead the 'revolution', whatever and whenever that might occur?

I have been inspired. Even as a mother (the hardest and most important work in my life) and as an educator. Thank you Sir Ken Robinson!

I think we've forgotten to teach truth, goodness and beauty. Since we can't measure it we throw it out. We can't even define it as a society.

I would like to say thank you. People like you make me want to be a teacher even more that I already do. Because I like to know that there is one more teacher in the word who IS NOT like you. :) All the best to you, I hope you decide on a career change.

TED talks are banal and cowardly.

I agree with him to certain extent. If he is saying put the task on children to choose the path they want to follow and what they take in school, the result wont be too great. I go to school, and I see that a lot of these kids are dumb and if you give them the choice, they will make bad ones. There should be expectations that society places which the child should meet in whatever profession he or she desires, but also should have a strong foundation of knowledge from various subjects.
