This is my ever video review. The game I picked is Famicom Wars, for the Japanese Nintendo Famicom (known as the NES in the west). Famicom Wars is the first game in the Nintendo Wars series, which has spawned both the Advance Wars and Battalion Wars subseries.

  • Is there any way to play this game on an American NES?

  • @WillisFilms1 Yes of course - there are many, many Famicom to NES adapters out there, from honeybees to generic ones. Just check ebay or import game shops.

  • Very interesting, I am actually at this point wanting to track down a copy.

  • @AMysticSeer if you want, I'll see you a second copy that I got since making this video. PM me if you're interested. It's CIB.

  • I don't know if its just me, but the ClassicFamicom Wars and Gameboy Wars series were more difficult from the modern Famicom/Advance Wars games.

  • @AeroClash Well yes and no. The old-school Famicom Wars mechanics are more primitive and less refined. For instance, troops cannot board a transport then have the transport move and drop them off all in the same turn like APCs can in Advance Wars, you cannot check the range of long range units by simply holding B, there are no CO powers, and many of the classic maps are indeed more difficult than the majority of AW maps. That said, the AI is a lot more primitive and easier to out-wit.

  • Great review. Subbing. More Fami!

  • @kpx107

In FW and SFW, both sides attack at the same time. Same in Game Boy Wars 1/2/Turbo. And Game Boy Wars 3 to an extent.

  • @SatoshiMatrix1 Thats true.
