If they make cuts it will get worse! A ride home on the N27, engine keeps stalling out every minute. Stalls in the middle of acceleration, and when stopping. Poor maintanance that will get worse if we put less $$ into the bus system. If your car ran like this you'd fix it, at LI Bus, it just sits in the depot overnight and given to another unsuspecting b/o the next day!

  • So yeah, I was on this LI Bus (1417) on the way home that we caught from Freeport to Jamaica a few months ago. Somewhere along the route some guy gets on, pays his fare and continues to move to the back of the bus... Once he grabs hold of one of the grab bars, it SNAPS off the forward-facing seat! LOL we were cracking! And there was also a flapping floorboard somewhere in there too...

  • That was a lawsuit waiting to happen! I wish they'd get rid of those 1400s, they are beyond their useful life. I think they should get some of the MTA Bus CNGs from CP over here to replace them.

  • I have an idea MTA Bus should take over MTA Long Island Bus.

  • That is what is supposed to be happening, but until I see a blue stripe on the buses (without the orange) and renumbering, I'll just be waiting.

  • I could tell it was a cummings engine by the sound. Ones that are diesel sound exactly the same. Their natural gas engines have lots of problems. So much that the ttc in toronto retired a whole fleet of buses after just 7 years. Orion6 buses they had. They converted other ng buses to diesel because of similar problems. New orion7 ng buses bought have all kinds of stalling problems there. The ones running in Brooklyn out of the Jackie Gleason depot seem to run pretty good. Buses need a rebuild.

  • I really think CNG has very little benefit. The buses cost more, they are more prone to mechanical problems, and the emissions aren't much less than today's clean diesels. A hybrid engine is much better than CNG. CNG produces just as much or more greenhouse has than diesel.

  • Also with the "MTA Bus" logo.

193 Orion V has blue stripes but it says "MTA Long Island Bus" still.

If Albany funds the MTA more money for the budget then the sign will say "MTA Bus" to replace LIB.

  • That is happening now as we speak. New buses with the new color scheme are showing up on Long Island but still bearing the MTA Long Island Bus logo.

  • Hmmm---well what I CAN say is this: If the bus does have any type of major motor issue, than it needs to be taken out of service ASAP and not to be driven again until the problems are fixed.

  • @htownman24 well thats there problem ( not MTA or your problem ) if they dont know how it feels to ride a bus with a motor issue then let them ride a bus to where they need to be on a important day to show that it dont matter to be there on time it matters to get there

  • @davidthekid2000 What if it didn't and you have to wait a while for the next bus to come and you really had to get somewhere ON TIME?

  • Fortunately maintanance is better now and stuff like this is a rarity.

  • if it can get you from a to b who cares?

  • Well, now they got the NG CNG's! The 1400s are slowly going! There's only like 40 of them in service for another year!
