I've only been able to beat him on hard using a samurai class CAS (Ryu Hayabusa, LOL) using the Katana discipline and armed with the Murasame....
The Katana discipline has a nasty anti-AI move, B+K, which has your character charge in, knock the lout into the air where you can either juggle them around or hit A+B and rack up the damage.... Best part is that the B+K move can be pulled off from a forward run or 8-way run.

Oooh, that's a good idea. But I'm not that good with the samurai class...and I haven't played this game in months.
