And for those who like to see the country up-close and personal, an Amtrak long distance train trip can give you scenery and fine dining. Amtrak uses American farm and ranch products to provide interesting meals that often utilize specialties of the region.

  • I've enjoyed 2 tasty meals on Amtrak...Both on Train 19, the southbound Crescent. The first meal I had was the salad, 2 cod filets seasoned with thyme and lemon, the thickest mashed potatoes I've ever had..which were amazing..and had chives, and some broccoli. Plus a major slice of cheesecake...meal 2 was essentially the same but with a large steak the next year.

  • The only problem with this video is that one is likely to gain weight while watching it!

(Just kidding!) Seriously, I have had many wonderful meals on Amtrak trains over the years. fir instance, my wife and I had a wonderful dinner on #49 leaving New York, along the Hudson River.

  • Amtrak is a vacation itself!!!!!!
