Trip to Isle Royale National Park, Michigan

This is our trip to Isle Royale National Park in Michigan. It is located in the North West corner of Lake Superior and is one of only 2 biosphere National Parks in the United States. It takes a lot of effort to get there, but, it is worth the trip! Check out the video to see why!

@dougpetty67 Your comment makes me smile when I read it. When the ferry is on it's way to the island, people are full of energy and excitement. On the way back, people look worn out while they find a place to rest on board. But we all come back. I've been to Isle Royale many times and will continue to go.

There is a big difference in hiking around the hotel at Rock Harbor (like this video) and backpacking 50 miles on the Greenstone. I've seen this island bring college athletes to tears. They lay down cry and want to give up, but there is no way out but to get up and keep going. The trails are tough, the bugs terrible and the cuts, bruises and blisters will take weeks to heal. But you see things others can't imagine. On leaving, as IR fades away,you know you will come back someday.

@howdy131 Your comment was a long time ago, but if you are still planning on going this summer: Moose and wolves are not a problem, just don't bother a moose, and you're a blessed being if you spot a wolf. Don't pack too heavy. It's better too much than too little, but I always see people bringing WAY too much. You stay in the designated camping sites, typically 3-5 miles apart. If you can get there from Minnesota, it's great to take the Voyageur out of Grand Portage and hike to Rock Harbor.
