I might have already commented on this tune, but I have to say that piece lifts my soul when I feel blue.
I came across this on some random album I bought when I thought I should get into jazz and thought maybe it has What a Wonderful World on it (yep didn't look at the back of the case).
It didn't and in fact was a collection of his 30s and 40s work. I loved it after giving it a week. Then lost it when I sold my car....it was in the glove box. Enjoy it new owner...enjoy ;(

I love this tune; a person can really hear how much of his heart he is putting into this song.

Appears to be Db. (Trumpet Eb) . The "written" key for Stardust is C (Trumpet D) but possibly it was recorded in C and speeded up at some stage (in the pre-digital age days when the key and the tempo were tied). But Db is a very popular key amongst American musos - Ruby Braff played Cornet Chop Suey in Db although it's normally Eb. Armstrong was too good a muso to be fazed by unusual keys. So unless he has made a film version showing the fingering, there's no way of knowing. Jon Stone(Trumpet)

I think you'll find it's Db = trumpet in Eb. C is "written" key. Maybe it was recorded in C and speeded up (pre-digitally) thus raising the pitch 1/2 tone. But Louis was a master. Could be either.

My dad had a couple of 78rpm records and "Stardust" was one of them, so this was the type of music I grew up on. I was lucky enough to get to see Louis Armstrong and his group in Dallas back around 1963. It made me feel like he had come to my house and started a jam session. He was so much fun to watch as well as to listen to. Always that great big smile! They called him "Satchmo" which was short for "Satchel Mouth."
