@HollywoodrMr Cannot agree to that because of the fact that Robin Williams humor makes his character seem more human, and fits the part of the movie. Don't forget, he is supposed to be the teacher that teaches student to be free and independent of society and may use the tool of humor to do so, thus proving one of the themes of this movie in explanation of characterization.

This is a great movie, but Roger Ebert was right when he said Williams Comic persona takes over the movie at times. Souring the very powerful dramatic potential of the movie. I'd like to see a modern remake with Hugh Laurie, I think that would rock.

@fdemey Ha, yes, I do prefer conformity in non-conformity! I love the romantic notions of it too even when it is inherently contradictive.

One should however not forget that he teaches this lesson to relatively smart and smart people. Not eveyone should try to be non-conformist. Criminals and people who have kids at 16 should strive to be conform with the standard. Only the smarter and saner half of society should strive to be non-conformist.
