I think that Bill Jeremy made that statement because in that time people of Italian or Jewish background were not considered "white". They were discriminated against as well. I remember reading in a Bio about Sinatra, how they wanted to give him a more all american name because Sinatra sounded too "ethinic" i guess...the same goes for pearl bailey's husband who was italian. born Luigi Balassoni was changed to Louie Bellson....so that was my interpretation...

I think that when he said he was colored he meant that he i was now considered colored because he was dating a colored woman.
