Haiti: Nouvelle Vie Youth Corps

The Nouvelle Vie Youth Corps will be a group of 50 trained Haitian young adults (ages 18-30) dedicated to serving their country for 2 years to: implement mass-scale mental health interventions and community-based sustainable solutions for food, water, sanitation, and construction systems (Permaculture).
The Nouvelle Vie Youth Corps is the International Association for Human Value's response to the Haitian Earthquake. It is born out of IAHV's pre-earthquake programs in Haiti. Since October 2007, IAHV has impacted 350 Haitian youth in: youth leadership, sustainable agriculture, and small business development. Haiti needs more internal orphanages for the orphans & schools to keep the children off the streets & be given meals so they don't go scavenging for food. Haiti needs expertise, equipment & other resources to increase productivity & people need to be motivated to start developing the agriculture base to help sustain themselves instead of importing everything. The govt needs to have make- shift govt buildings for now & take charge ensuring aid is reaching those who are suffering .
