I know the Arabs Chrisitians use the word "Allah" for God. They use it to mean the God of Abraham Jacob and Issac -YHWH. Lydia: I reall believe you need to investigate the standing of women in Islam. For example if you were raped in Sharia ruled country, you as a woman, will need to produce 4 male witnesses (not women)and not only that, those witnesses "have to have had seen the the penis head going into the vagina" If you fail to do that, you will be accused of adultery and stoned to death. Regards to beating. In arabic language, the severity of meanings can be understood from the verbs. The 'beating' word used refers to the light hitting. e.g. using a pencil to tab on your wife.
