Awesome and rare version of "Protect and survive", live at the Sports Arena Los Angeles on 11/12/1980
Fotos are from the era 1979-1983, with one or two exceptions, since it´s very hard to find many fotos just from 1980.
Ian Anderson / Martin Barre / Dave Pegg / Eddy Jobson/ Mark Craney

  • So what, I get to look at a picture?

  • @BARRIEMOREBARLOW Nobody forces you to

  • Pic around 7:00... space men in casualwear? Somehow it fits the era, early 1980s. Seems like for the first time in the band's history they must have been listening to A&R promo guys. 'Ian-as-Aqualung' definitely cleaned up... moved w/ the times... no microbes allowed! Guess he rejected all this soon enough.

  • I used to think like that as well, but with the time i realized that "A" is an excelent album and quite unfairly treated by most of the fans.

  • Additionally, they went into 'Uniform' from here and into Mark Craney's drum solo... posted anywhere?

  • How does one get a copy of the Original Broadcast? And why doesn't Ian release the video, parts of which are on the poorly edited Slipstream? Ray? You out there?

  • Nice pictures, nice post.

  • @Semente200 I ws soooo pissed at him when "A" came out because of the mass personel changeover of the best band I ever heard or he ever had (IMO) that I never gave it a chance. There are some great tracks on "A" but all in all it pales in comparison to hes previous 7 or so albums before that. I later found out the real story behind that changeover & have long forgiven my man IAN:-)

  • was this the show recorded on king biscuit's flower hour?

  • Oh man, a thousand thank you's for posting this! Huge Tull fan but I've never heard this one, nor seen half the pictures! They were tearing it up!

  • Toll...bin Fan von Tull und, oder Eddie Jobson

  • Like how the flute and the violin were combined... perfect ^^

  • I used to amuse myself by playing the LP at very loud volumes & jamming along on the drumset. I did a decent job as an amateur, but Tull has always inspired me, especially "A." Brilliant. Ian said that he began this work intending it to be a solo album before realizing that he was actually recording a Tull record. That story always makes me laugh.
