S2000 Bent Rim at Streets of Willow Springs CW 6-13-08

First time going clockwise. I had heard it's a lot scarier because of the blind "chicane", and it was. Once you figure it out, it's not so bad, but I was still cautious throughout the day, especially considering 2 cars flipped there a couple months ago. I still ended up bending a rim, though.

Stock 2004 S2000 on Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Spec street tires.

1:34.567

I was really hoping to break into at least the 1:33's, but I just couldn't do it. Any tips on my line are welcome.

How bad is it?

I didn't notice it until about a week after the event, when the ride quality started to noticeably suffer at high speeds. Took the wheel off to look at it, and I could immediately see that it was bent. Cost about $100 to fix. Definitely take CW slow if it's your first time, but once you get it, it's pretty easy to avoid that spot.

Wish I had seen this. I broke a wheel about six months ago on the same hazard - 3 years years after you did - and it is still not repaired!

Use 2nd gear more. Turn 2,3 are 2nd gear corners. In your car you fall out of Vtec and 3rd gear is slower. Use the whole track. Get on the gas and let the car drift out to the edge of track coming out of corners.
