  • Nice vid - I'm guessing the Saturday was a damn sight hotter than Sunday (which was, IMHO, perfect)

  • @ThraxUK Thanks for watching and commenting mate. Yep, it was pretty hot, thats for sure! If it werent for them hard workin' souls at the mobile bars - I might have become dehydrated! Hope you got a good show on the Sunday too!

  • Great video, going to the 2011 show(one more sleep!),if its half as good as this i'll die happy

  • @Hanglands yes when i 1st saw the 109 ithought it was rather odd. I was wondering why the Fw-190 wasn't there it was on the 90th ann i think. @BigMrFirebird They may have tried but there must've been some reason for not 1 of them being there. I agree the 262 would've been great but knowing modern times it wouldn't surprise me if regulations and rules were reasons why they weren't there but would like to know. I wonder if they could get the Comet from Old Warden to fly a display there.

  • @Hanglands In the case of the Zero I would say that the Fighter Collection could've done their homework to see if the idea was more viable than they did? Surely ensuring that an aircraft can be dismantled enough to fit in a container was fundamental to the entire project?

  • @BigMrFirebird A nut or bolt in a pump is very sloppy I agree, but the aircraft is not part of Duxfords collection, it just happens to be based there, so the fault was not that of the Flying Legends organisers. Same for the Zero, not Duxfords fault.

  • @Hanglands I'd call leaving a nut and bolt in an engine sloppy, not just bad luck. Did you hear about what happened to the Zero? They were in the act of crating it up when they found out that its' wing spar was too wide for the crate. Perhaps if they'd done the reasearch they would've already been prepared. Though again, I'd just call it sloppy. Given Legends track record, next years main attraction will be a kite, and there'll be no wind.

  • @BigMrFirebird Yes they have had some rotten luck. Glacier Girl was the P-38 which was flying the Atlantic route to the UK but got stuck at Goose Bay in Canada with a cracked cylinder head. And yes, Sally B missing the three ship formation was tragic, and it was some time after that that she flew again - I read a story with a photo on Key Publishing forums about a nut or a bolt being left in an oil pump. Not Duxfords fault in either case, just pure bad luck.

  • @Alexw851 What gets me is the German organisation who have 3 airworthy Bf 109's with correct engines. Why doesn't the Fighter Collection book the likes of one of them or the remake 262, for Legends? Hell, they've billed a P-38 and a Zero before now and neither of them showed, so even if the Germans turned down the offer there'd be nothing new when it comes to Legends delivering it's main attractions XD

  • @Hanglands Is it just me or does Legends have a poor track record when it comes to delivering it's star of the show? You mentioned the Invader? I'm thinking of the P-38 and the Zero, both of which were no-shows in the years they were used as advertisements. Granted Liberty Belle did show, so Sally B didn't and robbed us of the site of 3 B-17's in the air. Probably never gonna happen over here again : (

  • Great vid, love the heat haze at the start.
