Atheism IS a religion, sir. It fits all criteria just like all other bonafide religions with criteria requirements to belong in a category of a "religion".

I don't understand why more people don't take the stand of agnosticism. That's somewhere in between theism and atheism and an overall better stance because you're saying you just don't know, which most people don't.

@HigherPlanes I'm afraid you're wrong. Atheism/Theism are in response to the claim 'God exists.' If you happen to believe that God exists then you're a Theist but If you lack any belief in a God(s) then you are an Atheist. Agnosticism applies to knowledge (which in an epistemological sense, could be labelled, justified belief, based on evidence) You can be an Agnostic Theist or an Agnostic Atheist. This means that whist I lack the belief in God, I do not claim to know with certainty.
