Translated: Blessed are You; Lord our God, King of the universe; Who sanctified us with His commandments; and commanded us to kindle the Chanukah lights.
On the first night of Hanukkah, Sage asked to sing after lighting the first candle with the shamash (center candle). We didn't know what she wanted to sing, and we couldn't believe our ears when this was what she chose. We had never before heard her sing it. When we asked her if she learned the song at school she said, "No, I heard it on TV."
This movie was taken after Hanukkah. We just couldn't put the Menorah away without first documenting Sage's interest in the ritual. We have since learned the song is supposed to be sung before lighting the candles, but she wanted to do it while she lit them, and we can't argue with the results. To those of the Jewish faith, please accept our apologies for this and any other potential inaccuracies.
Shalom!Happy Hanukkah!
