Eugene Sledge goes out shooting with his father, but the horrors of war still haunt him.

From HBO's "The Pacific", episode 10 of 10.

I claim nothing in this video. It's simply for entertainment purposes.

  • "It was not that their flesh had been torn from their skin, or their bones broken. It was that their very souls were ripped apart."

  • Before the war my grandpa went hunting with his brothers all the time. Without going into long details, all four of them survived but came back haunted. They all did some serious killing. I know of a couple of hand-to-hand combat moments. None of them EVER hunted again. They came home and settled into peaceful existances and rarely spoke of, I quote my grandpa here, "That damned awful war." My grandpa never saw the need to memorialize it. They chose to forget it the best they could.

  • The stuff they went through. I can't even imagine what it would be like before during and after.

  • Band of Brothers may be better than this series; BUT this is more realistic due to the sadness and emotions in The Pacific. Plus you get get to see them how they react they get home; unlike Band of Brothers.

  • Holy shit, Herbert Moon survived!

  • I'm medical, but I have a really hard time anymore killing anything. It just isn't in me.

  • Thank you Eugene.

  • My Grandfather was a Bren Gunner in the Canadian army, he was 18 when he first went into combat in Normandy, this first German troops he went up against were hardened SS troops, He found it equally as difficult adjusting to normal life after seeing and participating in such horror.

  • @uspatriot911 My grandfather fought against the japanese as well. He never mentioned the war. The only thing he mentioned (and not in my lifetime) was how bad the smell was....

  • world war 2 haunted my grandpa tell the day he died he fought the japanese. But He never talked about the war.

  • @Animal20102010 Joe Mazello. He was also in Simon Birch.
