Harry The Hipster Gibson - 4-F Ferdinand

Let's get Harry back up here, starting with his craziest Soundie by far - hang onto your socks! Didn't think you could get this high in 1944, didja?

Remember Jim Carrey's manic zoot suiter in The Mask? I know a lot of it is Chuck Jones but I wonder if Carrey didn't watch Harry for some of the facial expressions

Yes. The Hipster was the FIRST Jerry Lee Lewis! 10 years before the Killer. And like the Killer, who was career-derailed for marrying his 13 yr old cousin, The Hipster was derailed for "Who Put The Benzedrine.." Drugs were a NO-NO then!

I never could figure out what's so bad about marrying your 13 year old cousin. Old enough to bleed, old enough to breed. Marry 'em that young you can have 14 kids.

Mick, the documentary is called Boogie In Blue and it was published in 1991 on VHS only. It's hard to find and you can figure paying $50 or more on ebay if it ever comes up. The documentary video was published by Harry's daughter and produced by his granddaughter Flavyn Feller, hope this helps you find it. It's fantastic.
