Toledo Mayor wants Congress to reinstate Fairness Doctrine

Toledo Mayor Carty Finkbeiner wants Congressman Henry Waxman (D-CA) and the U.S. Congress to investigate WSPD-AM 1370 (Toledo, OH) for not following the principles of the Fairness Doctrine. The mayor also calls on Congress to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine in the 111th Congress.

I believe what you are advocating is the Fairness Doctrine as it was practiced. No program is required to provide equall time to important issues only that the station/network make time available. There is no rational possibility of denial to the fact that speech has been limited by media consolidation and the elimination of the Fairness Doctrine and there is also no denial that allowing opposing views on important subjects adds to the public debate and provides the best legislative results.
