Hyenas are actually one of the most successful predators. Lions steal a majority of their food from hyena kills.

The lions had had their feast on the carcass. It was not worthwhile to squabble with the hyenas,after all, the lions had their full meal. Just let the hyena had it. If the lions were hungry, it would have ended differently.
