First test of our 3-axis of freedom milling machine. It is milling plywood with 3mm tungsten carbide cutter driven by high speed spindle (50000rpm).

All linear axis are equipped with ballscrews, gaged ball linear guides and AC-servo motors. Spindle includes pneumatic grip/release mechanism for milling tap, which we are planning to use for automatic tool changing.

Control system is based on Labview software and National Instruments motion control card. Machine is built mostly out of used components and parts, but Z-axis is Asser's design.

Kuvissa esiintyy tamperelainen itse rakennettu kolmiakselinen NC-jyrsinkone, jossa on 50000rpm kiertävä ilmalaakeroitu suurnopeuskara. Koneessa on kuularuuvit, kuulajohteet ja AC-servomoottorit kaikilla liikeakseleilla. Liikkeitä ohjaa Labview-ohjelmisto ja National Instrumentsin 4 akselinen liikkeenohjauskortti.

Koneen rakentamiseen on käytetty käytettyä tavaraa, jotka on purettu vanhoista teollisuuskoneista. Budjetti on ollut varsin kohtuullinen.
