  • how do you trot from a halt and halt from a trot? im working on that with a horse i am going to lease and i got it once but im not sure how to do it correctly and you look like the person who could know im too shy to ask my riding instructor im afraid she will say im too inexperienced even though i have been riding enough to gallop uphill and have been doing dressage for 3 years. i could use the help even though my horse is a 2 time defending 2nd level dressage champion. i have a show next week!

  • I hope your show went well! I had no computer access for the last 3 wks.

First I would say you should not be shy about asking your trainer... that's what you are paying her for! And if she says you are too inexperienced, you need a new trainer!!!

  • You need to get an IMMEDIATE forward response from your horse when you apply your leg. If your horse is sluggish, then INSIST and add a tap with the whip or a touch with your spur(s)... as firm as necessary to get the repsonse. And use these aids until you get that response every time you ask. The aid(s) will lighten as the horse understands. No negotiations. If you do not ask/demand a response, you won't get one. Make it very clear to your horse, and be CONSISTENT. I hope this helps.

  • do you have two horses ?

  • Yes, I have two... Timon and Corsair,

(Timon is for sale! He is in Wellington FL)

  • You are a very good rider and your horse is lovely!

  • Thanks :-)
