  • I've never heard of or seen these dams before, but they're absolutely beautiful. Excellent work on the film/still shots, as well. Thanks for the share!

  • They're definitely worth visiting if ever you're in the area (Elan, near Rhayader in mid Wales).

  • Lovely video and stunning shots of the dams . I love this place and the mountain road is breathtaking. Have ya got any video of the dam above ffestiniog??

  • Nothing yet but I'm hoping to head up to North Wales in June/July.

  • Well made film - and I'd never seen the dams with water coming over the top before - quite a sight!

  • I've only seen the dams like this about 4 times in 10 years - once during the summer. Definitely worth a trip if you can manage it!

  • My folks had a caravan in Devils Bridge from around 1973 to 92, Used to drive past these dams every year. loved it! Ive even seen the resevoirs bone dry one year sometime in the late 80's, but we didnt have a camera on the day to take some pics. Ta for posting this, great to see them again.

  • I was there last weekend and there was a lot of water cascading over all the 5 dams. I see it wild at least once per year and I have been going there for 13 years and on average 3 times per year. Your video is excellent. You are very brave to lean over the wall from above the claerwen dam though!!!

  • I've heard the local Welsh pagan witches throw tins of Spam over the dams on fulls moons, to curse the English.

They mentioned this on BBC 1's "The One Show"

  • Excellent video. Always best when the waters are pouring over - and being a softie, even better when it's turned out sunny!

  • the water from the elan valley goes thru massive pipelines, thru wales, south shropshire (ludlow) area and evenually to birmingham to supply the west midlands. I have been down inside the pipes that carry the water. the pipes are as big as a house and would wash you away easly. Elan valley is a wonderfull place to visit for a day out. Great filming.

  • awesome! i live in hereford should go more often really, very beautiful place.
