In his questions at the Senate Agriculture Committee hearing on Reforming U.S. Financial Market Regulation, Senator Dick Lugar asked Chairman of the CFTC Gary Gensler how to prevent people from using derivates to express public sentiments, whether the use of transparency will hinder unwise decisions regarding prime and sub prime mortgages, loans, and other transaction, as well as bring to light those areas that are unclear to many consumers. He concluded by asking how we can prevent a crisis like this from occurring again and how we can correctly identify what happened this time in order to correct public policy in this area.
