The preconceptional lie that the Sovjets and the Chinese party, were communists, is a reasuring one.
If you looked closer, socialism, didnt exist in its original form, where the workers run the plants.
This is something everybody has to get trough their thick skulls.

Some of these comments blow my mind. Just because Bernie want to help people and wants to put fairness back in government doesn't make him a socialist. Having an agreed upon system to aid retirement doesn't make us socialist. At what point do we start taxing the wealthy? Would it not be fair if they paid the same rate in taxes as everyone else? Good god... if anyone thinks the wealthy pay as much as most the middle class (as percent of income) they are most certainly wearing blinders.

@guyfroml Dude, are you kidding? the Great Depression started in 1929. Ever heard of Black Tuesday? FDR wasn't inaugurated until 1933, beating out a Republican who WAS partly to blame for the Depression. He served three terms, more than any other president before him. He must've been doing something right. He saved tons of land for national parks and started social security, which is the most successful government program ever implemented. Your MBA obviously doesn't mean anything. Read something

@caucasianjake WRONG! FDR was the cause of the Great Depression, which didn't happen until a few years after the stock market crash. It was directly attributed to FDR's policies that instigated the crash when it could have easily been averted. Anyone who says otherwise is a perfect example of a someone who has NOT done their own thorough research, as I have - part of learn getting a MBA.

@robpatozz Private Banks and corporations are the reason the Great Depression took hold. It'll be the reason we let it happen again. Don't be fooled. The Bush Family, Heinz Family, and all the rest of them would love to try to setup a fascist regime again just like they almost did in the 30's. But another group of over-seers beat them to it in a few countries about 5 thousand miles away. Guess who they were and how that ended??

@robpatozz Your idealism is all well and good, but the fact of the matter is that corporations are the bleeders of your liberties and my own. You should be happy government can intervene on what these corporations can do to you. Fascism is just around the corner if you and the rest of American don't open your eyes to who's really taking away your "freedom" which is money in conservative talk. Most people only label something "socialist" if they're not getting some. So, the commentary is b.s. and pointless. The fact *IS* that most of us are working harder for less, and the top earners are earning much, much, much more for much, much, much less (including much less responsibility). There's a breaking point with disparity, is all.

B.S.? Bernie is a self proclaimed Socialist. Most people only label something "socialist" that is in fact "socialist". Not getting some?! Some what? I personally want NOTHING from the government but FREEDOM and protection from those who seek to take away my liberties and the fruits of my labor. Oh sorry, that is exactly the opposite of what our socialist government does! No hand out here. You seem a bit disgruntled. Glass half full? Or hand half empty? Disparity is ultimately a state of mind.

As I am watching the debate, I am continually reminded that these CFR criminals are just that, Criminals. These Washington and wall street thieves are lying, and using fear mongering to push their unconstitutional SOCIALIST bailout. WAKE UP AMERICA. McCain and Obama are both CFR. Do your homework!!! I don't think that at this time people are particularly upset about people who think we should be paid fair wages and have good healthcare and education benefits, and live decent, humane lives.

People who truly understand the fundamentals of this country's government, specifically, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, do not support socialist programs, and federal government intervention into the private lives of individuals. I have no obligation, moral or otherwise to pay your health care bill, subsidize your wages, and finance your "decent, humane" lifestyle. Nor do you have any obligation to provide for me and mine. When forced to do so by government, that is socialism.
