I give you credit that, yes it can be done, but for every 1 guy that can make it look professional, 19 other so called pro's really do screw it up, but I have seen some exceptional hopper jobs, they are rare. New drywall board helps as well as doing walls instead of ceilings. Plus hopper knockdown doesn't hide imperfections as well because the knockdown tends to be smaller. A rig can spray 200 boards in 35 minutes, a hopper takes a day+.
Nagh,I use a hopper and I do it for a living,I mix all my mud in a plastic trash barrel in the center of the house and only use about 4 buckets of mud for a normal size house (200 brds) it looks nice and not alot of waste
Please keep in mind that the most important thing about the knockdown texture look is that it is consistent from wall to wall and from room to room. Nothing looks worse than a poor knockdown job. The system in this video usually results in poor outcome. To do an entire house takes at least 100 gallons of texture. That hopper hold 2 gallons and you will likely not be able to mix 50 times with any consistency. A drywall spray texture rig is required. Goto PopcornRemoval dot com to learn more.
