CRL & IHB 10/18/09

So after looking through pictures on flickr.com, I saw a picture from Marshall Bleecher of the CRL road freight. After reading through comments and doing some research I finally decided to set out for it. I got to 99'th and Vinceness at 8:50'ish, and was looking around the area, noticing the type of neighborhood I was in. At 9:00 I heard a couple of gun shots so I went down a few blocks to 111'th. There I saw a few crack heads hanging around the abandoned station so I went further down the main where I thought I saw a freight train parked. At 125'th and Vinceness I looked down and saw IAIS 157 with an ethanol train. It later popped off the train and went west. I finally went back to the Washington Park area, but then wanted to see the actual CRL main. So I took Vinceness up to 88'th and took that to Halsted. Crossing the tracks at Halsted I see the lights from CRL 15. I flew down back to 95'th, but didn't hear shit over the scanner, so I took a chance, and drove back up Halsted. Right when I approach the crossing the signals activate.

Scene 1: I got caught at the signals at Halsted for the CRL. CRL 15 and CKRY 903 are the power for the road freight. After the curve they are on Metra tracks.

Scene 2: Got back to 99'th street with plenty of time to spare, so I set up and got a picture with my cell phone. I've noticed that OmniTRAX crew's are usually very very shy when it comes ti givving horn. Though to my amazement, a majority the main line is a QZ.

Scene 3: After driving north and west, I ran into Bedford Park and Bridgeview areas. On the scanner they were calling out BRCKCK on the BRC's 59'th street line. It had a Dash 9 and SD70ACe. The morning ended with a trip up to Argo, where four IHB units were switching the south end of the yard.

It's not that bad, though when I was in Washington Park I did hear a gun go off, twice. Just so long as your not white and drive a shit car, you should be ok.
