Aerial footage of The Unlimited Dusi 2011 Canoe Marathon held between Pietermaritzburg and Durban, South Africa. All shots taken with the helicam: Helicopter is a modified T-rex 600E, camera is a GoPro Hero HD shooting in full HD. Pilot/cameraman Andrew Martens. Footage from the camera is streamed live back to the pilot and viewed through video glasses to allow him to frame the shot. Panning is achieved by turning the helicopter. Side on and front on takes are achieved by flying sideways/backwards relative to the canoeists.
