I'm shooting my Glock 17 9mm at about 20 yards at some fruits, displaying the differences between hollow points and full metal jacket rounds.
The full metal jacket affected the watermelon very well. Full penetration, and separation of the outer shell. First shot hit the far right of the watermelon, entering and exiting with minor fracturing of the shell. Second shot missed. Third shot his just to the left of the first shot, increasing separation of the shell, and completely removing that whole portion of the shell.
I shot the hollow point rounds at a cantaloupe, the first shot missed, the second shot got embedded into the melon, not exiting. The third shot hit center mass, and created fragments and debris from the existing hole. Quite a bit of devastation of the soft inner core of the melon.
