Viet Nam #19 Dream Coming Home

I have begun the trip home. It is on a rugged mountain path, wide but rocky. No car is possible, I am walking.
I reach a deep ravine, there is apartment house construction on either side, with scaffolding. The buildings are brighly colored, tall and very narrow. I have to jump across the chasm. Do, hooking a leg into the scaffold on the other side, grabbing with my hand.
(I leave Viet Nam tomorrow)

Thanksgiving
Back in Hanoi after a week in Hue. It rained the first 4 days. I bought a raincoat, and a hair dryer to dry my wet clothes.
Hired a car for half a day and went to 2 tombs, Ming Mau, and Tu Duc, which was my favorite. His poetry pavilion, very sensitive leader, but when he was buried 200 people were killed, all the ones who knew his burial place. A way to keep the buried body from being pilfered.

The longer I am here the more I see. First all was new, but by the time you enter your 7th pagoda recognition sets in, and although you still may not really know what you are looking at in any depth, you slowly build a framework of reference. Perhaps the same thing happens in human relationships.
Hired a Dragon Boat to go to Cinh Mu Pagoda.

Floating down the Perfume River
far from the Lake of Clarity,
surrounded by dragons
but dreaming of Burmese pagodas.

The wooden pavilion of poetry -
three steps down to the water.
HereTu Duc penned his verse
and drank the lotus

  • Ah! A Solution!

  • Haha! I doubt that there's anything you could possibly get yourself into that would be hideously boring. If it were, within moments you'd find a way to transform it into unboring.
